Displaying ads on a blog is one of the best ways to monetize content. While some ad networks like Mediavine or Adthrive are attractive but hard to get into – many smaller publishers use Monumetric.

In this guide, we’ll discuss the current Monumetric requirements, how to apply for Monumetrics and I’ll give you my opinion on them. I’ve been displaying ads via Monumetric on this website since December 2021 so I believe I can now review them.

Before we start, you should know that Monumetric is a great alternative to Mediavine and Adthrive – perfect for small publishers who don’t meet the requirements of these bigger ad networks.

Monumetric

What Is Monumetric?

Monumetric is a full-service ad management system for publishers and content creators. Monumetric helps publishers monetize their content by displaying ads.

Monumetric serves ads in different niches and they give you the controls when it comes to the type of ads you wish to serve on your website.

Monumetric

Why Monumetric?

Monumetric is an ad network management system. This website is currently displaying ads from Monumetrics and there are a few reasons why I picked them.

  • Their dashboard is easy to use and understand.
  • The customer service is great. So far, I had to discuss a couple of issues with their team, and they fixed them fast and efficiently.
  • They are a reliable option for small publishers and have a great reputation amongst bloggers.

Now, you should know that my first choice when it comes to ads is Mediavine. This website is smaller than my main travel website, so I was looking for a solution to display ads.

After my research, I came to realize that Ezoic was a risky solution from what I had heard from other publishers, and Monumetric was the safest option. After a few months of being on a waiting list, I’m happy to serve their ads.

Don’t get me wrong, if I could get this website on Mediavine, I would, but at the moment, it doesn’t meet their requirements.

That said, Monumetric is the most reliable alternative until I meet Mediavine requirements.

Monumetric Requirements

To join Monumetric, you have the choice between four different programs. When you have more than 80,000 monthly pageviews, you have more options when it comes to your ads and dashboard.

The one that interests us the most today, is their Propel Program that targets small publishers.

Here’s an overview of their requirements:

  • Minimum of 10,000 monthly pageviews
  • Must be a WordPress or Blogger site – Learn more about blog platforms here
  • The sidebar must be at least 300px wide
  • The site must be approved by major ad providers
  • Minimum 50% traffic from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
  • Must be willing to pay the $99 one-time implementation fee.

Yes – you got that right. You need to pay to set up your ads.

But you’ll only pay if your website gets approved. As they target small publishers, setting up ads is a big task and it takes time. As a result, they charge an implementation fee that you pay once so it’s worth their time.

That said, you should know that you’ll be able to get that money back usually within a month. So, is it worth it? Absolutely!

How To Apply For Monumetric

If you’re meeting Monumetric requirements, apply to join.

Here’s how you can apply for Monumetric:

  1. Go to Monumetric.
  2. Click on the big blue button “Apply Today”.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter your information.
  4. Click on “Submit”.
  5. Wait for the next steps.

They might need more information from you or they may put you on a waiting list. I had to wait a few months before I heard back from them.

Once they’re happy with your website, you’ll need to get approved by ad partners and you’ll need to pay the $99 implementation fee.

Then, you’ll start displaying ads!

Monumetric Review

In this section, I’ll review Monumetric. I’ll be comparing them to Mediavine because I use both.

Keeping in mind Monumetric is a solution for small publishers, I don’t expect the same service I get with Mediavine.

We’ll discuss the following:

  • Site speed
  • Monumetric earnings
  • Ad settings
  • Dashboard
  • Ad looks
  • Support

Site Speed

It’s normal that a website won’t be as fast once you start displaying ads. But, ads make you money – so as long as the speed is not too affected, it’s going to be okay.

If I compare to Mediavine, I believe the ads on Monumetric are not as fast, but they load nicely because they are optimized for CLS (cumulative layout shift). This is an important metric for Google Core Web Vitals and is a ranking factor.

If I lost you there, don’t worry – the important thing to note here is that the site speed is okay.

Monumetric Earnings

When it comes to ad earnings, it always depends on several metrics.

Think of the following:

  • Site speed (a slow website that displays ads slowly won’t make you as much money as a fast-loading website)
  • Audience (the American audience makes you more money)
  • RPM (revenue per thousand impressions)
  • Traffic (the more traffic, the more ad impressions)

For example, I have more than 3,000 sessions per day on my main website. Currently, I make around $100 per day just with ads.

On this website, serving ads with Monumetric, I have a few hundred sessions per day, and I make between $3-8 per day. It’s not a lot – I agree, but it’s still around $150 per month.

Considering ad revenue is a passive stream (it’s passive if you don’t publish any content), it’s still better than no money, am I right?

Eventually, when the traffic grows, the ad income increases too.

Ad Settings

Monumetric serves different types of ads. If you want to add more or remove some of them, you’ll need to email the support team so that they can do it for you.

Inside your dashboard, there’s a section called “Tools”, where you’ll see a few ad settings, but it’s very limited.

In fact, if I compare the settings to Mediavine, it’s limited. In Mediavine, you have complete control over your ads on mobile and desktop directly in your dashboard.

On Monumetric, you still have control, but not inside your dashboard. This is why you’ll need to reach out to the support team if you need to change ad settings.

Dashboard

The Monumetric dashboard is easy to understand but has limitations regarding settings. Although, you’ll be able to see your earnings quickly – which is the most important thing!

I’d love to see the revenue per page and more details (like in Mediavine’s dashboard), but it’s not available.

Also, I noticed a few glitches here and there, but nothing major.

Ad Looks

Now, ads aren’t the prettiest things – wherever you go! I’m not a fan of “leaderboard” ads that are located at the very top of a page, but apart from that, it’s okay.

Support

Finally, a good support team is very important when displaying ads! In fact, the customer experience is one of the most important things for me.

I have had a great experience with the Monumetric team. They answer fast, they fix things when needed, and overall, it’s positive!

Monumetric RPM

Now, let’s take a look at Monumetric RPM. My current average RPM is $10.96, which is relatively low if I compare it to Mediavine. To give you an idea, on Mediavine, my average RPM is $27.37. The RPM can differ for several reasons, including the origin of your traffic and your niche.

Monumetric vs Mediavine

Mediavine is better than Monumetric. The ad speed is better, the RPM is higher, and the setting options are better. That said, if you can’t join Mediavine yet, Monumetric is a great alternative. In my opinion, it’s fine for small publishers who want to monetize their websites until they reach the threshold for Mediavine. But, if you have a lot of traffic, I’d recommend using Mediavine instead.

Final Thoughts On Monumetric

Monumetric is a great ad management system for small publishers who don’t meet the requirements for Mediavine or Adthrive yet.

While the dashboard is not perfect, it’s a great solution if you want to monetize your content.

Don’t expect to make the big bucks if you only have the minimum monthly pageviews required, but still, money is money!

It’s the perfect alternative until you grow your website traffic.
