I love blogging. And while I have fallen out of love with blogging a few times over the years, blogging and I are in a good spot now.
My relationship with blogging has always been like a real relationship. You know, there’s the honeymoon phase, the testing phase (is that a thing?), the conflict phase, and the true love phase.
Love is a choice we need to make every day. Whether it’s a person or a passion you love, it’s a choice you must make every single day.
I started blogging out of a passion for writing. As a kid, I always dreamed of writing a book. Growing up I’d just write my stories in forums. When I was a teenager, I did write “two books”.
I kept them safely in my Microsoft Word, but I remember submitting a piece when I was a young adult. I’m sad to report that I’ve never made it to the publishers.
In my mid-twenties, I decided to start a blog… in English. If you haven’t figured out my accent yet, I’m a French Canadian, so writing in English was a challenge, which I took on in 2015.
In this post, I’ll share the main reasons why I love blogging and why being a blogger is the coolest job I’ve ever had.
If you need the motivation to keep blogging, I’m hoping this blog post will do just that.
Helping People
I’ve always had a strong desire to “change people’s lives” which is why I became a social worker in Canada. Eventually, I struggled with the job because I’m a sensitive person, and after 5 years, I became overwhelmed and started questioning my career choices.
I was a great social worker, and the teenagers I worked with were sad when I left. But, I wanted to pursue my dream of traveling the world, so I sold everything and did just that.
I left with less than CAD 2000 to my name. When I started my first blog, Abrokenbackpack.com, my goal was to help people travel on a budget.
When I started my second blog, Nomad Life 101, my goal was to help people start working online so that they could have freedom too.
A blog is not just rambles or rants. In my opinion, a blog’s mission is to help people find answers to their questions – no matter the niche you’re in.
Writing on a Daily Basis
I may not be a writer, but I get to write every day. And I may not be the best writer out there (after all, I’m writing in a foreign language), but I still get to write every day.
Whether, I’m writing a blog post, social media captions, or emails – I get to do it every single day.
If you love writing, you will love blogging.
Over the years, I found out what I really liked about blogging. The thing I love the most about writing blogs is writing how-to articles. I love to help people, so writing a how-to blog post means I’ll be helping someone.
Making Money Online
Obviously, one of the main reasons I blog full-time is because I can support myself financially with the blog. I managed to monetize three blogs so far, and I make more money now than I made as a social worker.
Not only did I create a job for myself that I love, but I get to make money doing so.

Freedom And Flexibility
Blogging gives me freedom and flexibility. I’m entirely responsible for the success of my blog, and its success is the direct outcome of the efforts I put in. That said if I want to take days off or holidays, or work at night, or for just one hour, I can.
I decide everything about my work schedule.
Every Day Is Different
Every day is different, so I don’t get bored. Every morning, I pick a blog post topic, I do keyword research and I start writing. Every day I end up writing about a completely different topic. Then, in the afternoon, I take care of social media, SEO, etc.
I’ve always been the type of person who gets bored easily, and blogging is the job that I’ve had for the longest period of time. I’ve been blogging since 2015, and before that, I never kept a job for more than 2 years. I’d always quit to find a new challenge because I was getting bored.
Developing Different Skills
I had to learn lots of different skills to become great at blogging. Design, SEO, coding, social media management, copywriting, etc. I got to learn so many things so it kept me on my toes.
Nowadays, I focus on the tasks I enjoy doing, and I outsource the rest.
Having A Creative Outlet
Having a platform to share my voice on and help people feels incredible. I’m still amazed people read my content and I’m glad to be able to make a difference.
I get to be creative and get it out of my system.
Being In Charge
Being in charge is one of the perks of blogging. I love that I’m in full control of the success of my online business. I love working on the vision and discussing it with my team members. I get to do the things I love every day.
Being your own boss is definitely fun.
Final Thoughts On Blogging Love
Finally, my love of blogging keeps growing because I know the potential it has – to help people and to make money at the same time. When I add in the benefits like freedom and flexibility, it just keeps getting better.
Blogging must be done with passion because it’s a lot of work. While you just see a small part of it (this blog post you’re reading for example), there’s a lot of work that goes behind it.
You must remember the reasons why you started in the first place so that you can fall in love with blogging again.
