Step 1 – Keyword research

When it comes to SEO, the first step is to target keywords. To find the keywords to target, you must analyze and research the competitiveness of keywords. This is the most important part when it comes to SEO and unfortunately, many people and bloggers skip this step.

Step 2 – Add the main keyword in the URL

Here, we refer to the slug part. You have to make sure to add the main keyword chosen in the first step in the URL.

Step 3 – Add the main keyword in the title

The title here refers to H1 and/or the SEO title. It has to be clear for Google that you are targetting XYZ keyword.

Step 4 –  Add the main keyword in the META description

This can be easily done with Yoast or Rankmath plugins – which are both popular SEO WordPress plugins. The META description refers to the excerpt that is featured on Google.

Note that sometimes Google will ignore your META description, but you should still make sure your META is optimized.

Step 5 – Add the main keyword in the first paragraph

Make sure your main keyword is going to be in the first paragraph. It has to be clear that you are able to answer the query.

Step 6 – Add the main keyword a few times within the content

Write for humans, but write for Google too. You can use the key search on your keyboard (control + f) to verify how many times your main keyword is found within the content.Β

Step 7 – Add secondary keywords at least once within the content

Add different alternatives for your main keywords – it can be synonymous, longtail keywords, etc. Again, you can use the key search function to find the keyword density.

Step 8 – Add the main keyword in h2 or h3

Add as many keywords as you can in the subtitles – in a natural way. This will help Google understand the topic.

Step 9 – Add Alt descriptions to your images.

Make sure to insert an alt description for every image on your website. These should be descriptive but they should also include keywords when possible.

Step 10 – Add links to high authority websites

Make sure to link to 2-3 external websites that have high authority about a topic (high domain authority websites). Although, try not to link to a competitor.

Step 11 – Add internal links

Make sure to link to a minimum of 1 page/blog post on your website.
